If you are buying arched windows make sure you get the right one. An Elliptical Arch window can be confused with the more common Segmental Arch window. Most window manufactures will make the simpler Segmental Arch or a Round Arch window but will not make an Elliptical or Tudor Arch window. Because of the difficulty involved in building an Elliptical Arch window the companies that do make them must charge more for this type of arch.

When you are comparing quotes for arched windows make sure you get a drawing or picture of the arch type you are getting. Most window dealers and manufacturers will not know the difference so you will have to educate them. The Elliptical Arch has no corners unlike the Segmental Arch, this is what causes the difficulty. Unlike the Round Arch an Elliptical Arch will have a loose curve at the top and tight curves at the sides.
